What is Organic?

Today people are more concerned than ever about what they are eating, and we are witnessing a health movement all over the world, the reasons to buy organic keep increasing! Choosing certified organic foods provides a substantial way for you to benefit the environment, public health, and local economies.

By general definition, produce can be called organic if it has not been treated with fertilizers or synthetic pesticides, and animals raised organically are not given drugs or hormones to promote more rapid growth. The produce is certified and grown on soil that had no prohibited substances applied for three years prior to harvest.

Why Choose Organic?

Studies show that organically grown food has higher amounts of Vitamin C, 20 to 40% more antioxidants, phosphorous, magnesium, and iron – all nutrients important for the healthy functioning of our bodies. Organic fruits and vegetables are high in antioxidants and nutrients, which provide energy and keep you looking young. Data shows that organic milk contains far more omega-3 fatty acids than conventional milk.

Organic foods are prohibited from the use of artificial chemicals, antibiotics, hormones, or genetically modified organisms. On the other side this more environmentally sustainable management of the natural environment and the land means more wildlife.

Whatever you’re buying makes a difference – from sunscreen to broccoli – when you choose an organic beverage, food, textiles, or beauty you choose products that promote a better world and are more environmentally friendly.

Check the Label

Organic food comes from trusted sources. All organic farms and food companies are inspected at least once a year and the standards for organic food are laid down in law.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has established an organic certification program that requires all organic foods to meet strict government standards. These standards regulate how such foods are grown, handled and processed.

Leave Chemicals Off Your Plate

Non-organic farms use toxic herbicides and pesticides chemicals that are really harmful to human and wildlife health. They also accumulate in our cells and contaminating the water, air, and our food. Organic farming practices include sustainable methods of pest control, that also do not harm the bees.
